The pattern for the basic hat has been updated. It was missing a tool, a couple of abbreviations, and I added in changes for the newborn size hat and the size 0-6 months hat. Check it out. I hope those work bettern for everyone. Pattern can be found here.

Reusable Swiffer Cover

After some research as well as trial and error, I've finally managed to come up with a swiffer cover pattern. Yay! Please keep in mind that this pattern will also fit on the Swiffer Wet Jet, but it will cover up the spray nozzles. I no longer purchase the swiffer cleaning liquids. I use a bleach cleaning spray instead. So it works out just fine for me.

So here it is...

Tools:
- less than 1 ball of 100% cotton yarn (I used Lily Sugar 'n Cream)
- H hook (5.00mm)
- yarn needle
- scissors

Abbreviations:
ch(s) = chain(s)
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
fpdc = front post double crochet
bpdc = back post double crochet
st(s) = stitch(es)
sl st = slip st

Pattern:
Ch 57 (You want it to measure 15 inches, so if your tension is tighter or looser than mine, you might need to change your amount of chs.)
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch across. (55 dc)
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, dc in next 8 sts, fpdc around next st, *dc in next st, fpdc around next st*, repeat from * to * 18 times, dc in next 9 sts.
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, dc in next 8 sts, bpdc around next st, *dc in next st, bpdc around next st*, repeat from * to * 18 times, dc in next 9 sts.
Row 4: Repeat row 2.
Row 5: Repeat row 3.
Row 6: Repeat row 2.
Row 7: Repeat row 3.
Row 8: Repeat row 2.
Row 9: Repeat row 3.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Fold end over so that sts 1-9 overlap sts 10-18. Insert hook in both sts (sts 9 and 10) at beginning, sc over both sts and in next 8 overlapped sts, sc in next 19 sts, fold over other end and sc over next 9 overlapped sts. Fasten off and weave in ends. Rotate work to opposite site and repeat this process (flaps will already be overlapped), ensuring that you sc over 9 times over the 18 overlapping sts.

I know the end of the pattern can be kind of confusing, so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. :)

I hope you enjoy this Go Green! pattern.

Slightly Textured Dishcloth

First, I want to say that I am sorry I haven't posted any patterns in a while. But, here's a new one.

Tools:
- Small amount of worsted weight yarn (preferably 100% cotton)
- H (5.00mm) hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch

Pattern:
Ch 27
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook (ch 3 counts as first dc) and each ch to end. (25 dc)
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1st dc), turn, working in back loops only dc in each st to last st, dc in top of ch 2. (25 dc)
Rows 3-10: Repeat row 2.
Do not fasten off and weave in ends yet.

Border:
Sc around, putting 3 sc in corner sts. Sl st to 1st sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.

I wrote up this pattern after I used it to make a dishcloth. I haven't truly tested it yet, so if you find any issues, please let me know so I can help you out or correct an error. Hopefully I will have a picture to add to this post soon.

Hello Kitty Hat

Using white yarn follow the Basic Hat Pattern. After, proceed through this post for the directions to the other pieces of the hat.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
st(s) = stitches
sc = single crochet
yo = yarn over
sc2tog = single crochet two together (with one loop on hook, insert hook in 1st st indicated, pull up a loop, insert hook in next st indicated, pull up a loop, yo and pull through all three loops).

Tools:
- H hook
- worsted weight yarn in white, small amounts of yellow, black, and red (or any other accent color you'd like)
- large-eyed plastic needle

Ears (make 2):
Row 1: Using white ch 9, sc in 2nd st and each of the remaining sts. [8 sc]
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in same st and each of the remaining sts. [8 sc]
Rows 3-4: Repeat row 2.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc2tog over 1st st and next st, sc in each of the next 4 sts, sc2tog over the next 2 sts. [6 sc]
Row 6: Ch 1, sc in same st and each of the remaining sts. [6 sc]
Row 7: Ch 1, sc2tog over 1st st and next st, sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog over next 2 sts. [4 sc]
Row 8: Ch 1, sc in same st and each of the remaining sts. [4 sc]
Row 9: Ch 1, sc2tog over 1st st and next st, sc2tog over next 2 sts. [2 sc]
Row 10: Ch 1, sc in same st and next st. [2 sc]
Row 11: Ch 1, sc2tog over same st and next st. [1 sc]
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Cut 2 strands in white approximately 3 times the length of the bottom of the ear. Use strand 1 to attach bottom right corner of ear to any st between rows 2 and 3, working down the side of the hat, continue to whipstitch ear to hat. Fasten off and weave in ends. Repeat for 2nd ear, but start at the bottom left corner of ear on opposite side of hat.

Eyes (make 2):
Row 1: Using black ch 4, sc in 2nd st from hook, sc in next st, 3 sc in last st. Now working down opposite side of ch, sc in next st, 2 sc in last st. Sl st to 1st st.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Attach with a small amount of yarn to front of hat a few rows down (I eyeball it). Fasten off and weave in ends.

Nose:
Round 1: Using yellow ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd st from hook, sl st to 1st st.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Attach with a small amount of same color yarn in middle of the front of the hat (once again, I eyeball it). Fasten off and weave in ends.

Whiskers:
Use a small amount of black yarn to weave in the whiskers, near the eyes. You can make them as long or as short as you want. I like mine to go across 5 sts on a newborn sized hat (I haven't made it in another size as of yet).

Braids:
Cut 8 strands of each the black, white, and accent color approximately 3 times the length you want the braids. Gather 4 strands of white and pull one end through st directly below edge of ear, in the last round of hat. Gather 4 strands of accent color and pull one end through 1 st to the left of the white. Gather 4 strands of black and pull one end through 1 st to the right of white. Pull ends through all sts so they are even. Braid all 3 groups of strands together. Tie off with a strand of any color. Repeat for other side. Cut-off ends so they are even.

Sprinkles (optional)
Using multi-colored yarn weave in and out of stitches of frosting. Fasten off. You don't "need" to weave in ends, because they will be stuffed inside, but you can if you'd prefer.

Assembly
Stuff cake and frosting pieces. Cut a long strand of yarn matching the cake color. Using large-eyed plastic needle whipstitch cake and frosting piece together through top row of cake and back loops of round 9 of frosting piece. Fasten off and weave in ends.

I currently do not have a picture for this, but I know there is one somewhere and I will put it up as soon as I can.

Welcome to the Wednesdays Crafts Blog

Hey everyone. Originally my patterns were for sale on my facebook page for Wednesday's Crafts, but I decided to change that. I learned a lot while learning to crochet, from free patterns. So, I've decided to share that with everyone else.

I have a couple of requests for everyone that decides to use my patterns. Please give credit where credit is due. You know what that means. I don't care if you sell things you make from my patterns, I just ask that you give a link back to my blog here or even my facebook page. It would be greatly appreciated.
